This works if your hair is not already curly. If I do all that scrunching my hair will be a mess and not in a good way. Scrunching excessively are for those with straight root hair and loose hair. Really curly hair will behave much different.

@@DanaGagliottii apologize ! I realize I didn’t specify what I meant. Your hair has straight roots and loose curls, therefore it can take all the scrunching without causing frizz and tangles. Your hair is beautiful. There are many types of curly hair and many don’t benefit of the same techniques. Thank you❤

I tried it on my 3b 3c curly hair and it gave me the waves that I really wanted , but actually I have short and very thin hair so I noticed that I shouldn't have moisturized my hair that much also splitting it into two sections wasn't a good idea.

Your hair looks AMAZING!! I've been making flaxgel and using it on my hair for a while now and I have no plans of using anything else ever again. I love it so much! (But oatgel works great, too!) - 1.5 tbsp flaxseeds - 1.5 cups water (I usually double this amount to thin it out a bit and because it stretches the gel out more, and I have a lot of hair) - 1 tbsp oil. - 1 tsp vanilla extract (or whatever extract I have that I like the smell of. Optional, and I don't know if it harms or helps my hair, it's just something I experimented adding to my recipe one day and I just found it makes my hair have this subtle pretty scent to it, so I kept it in.) I heat this to boiling or until it gets gooey and 'snotlike' (for lack of a better word), strain the seeds and usually then I put the seeds in a smoothie so there's no waste and I put the gel back in the pot with the oil and heat it to boiling again to incorporate the oil (which I find is necessary for reducing frizz and possible residue that can occur if I don't apply the gel evenly enough.) This makes a single batch that I use all of on my hair which is a few inches below shoulder length, so I don't have to worry about having leftover that I then have to store in the fridge and remember to use the rest of at a later date.) ** I have actually tried doing the same recipe but with ground flax (because it's all that I had at the time) and it worked just as well, the only problem is obviously you have to strain it REALLY WELL or you're likely to end up with bits in your hair that you then have to gentle pick/brush out with your fingers. It does work though, if that's all you have. One day I came across oat gel, which I didn't know was a thing at the time, and I decided to follow the same recipe as my flax gel one (except swapping out the flax for oats - which I've tried and had success with both quick oats and whole oats), and surprisingly it worked great, too! I feel like I like flax gel better thought because I feel like this gel leaves more white-coloured flakes if I apply to thickly in areas (they're small but annoying, and you can see them if you look closely), and when I touch my curls (as I have a habit of doing) sometimes there's this weird residue (which doesn't matter I guess s'long as no one is sitting their touching your hair). But yeah, works in a pinch, so I mostly use the flaxgel recipe I wrote above, but I go back and forth depending on what ingredients I have at the time that I find myself needing to refresh my hair/curls. ** Keep in mind that this recipe is just what works for me, so I would give it a test on a day when you know you won't be going out any time soon just in case it ends up not working for you. Even for me, I had to experiment with this a lot before I got it to a point where I'm happy with it. You might even find you need more flax, or more water, or less flax/water. I came across a tutorial on flaxgel ages ago and I remember her saying that a) it's very important that you have enough water in your hair, and b) when she was applying it her hair 'feels like slimy seaweed' and thats what you want it to feel like. I kept that in mind when applying gel in the beginning stages and I think that was very helpful for me to determine how to tailor this recipe to fit my hair type and length. :) I literally just wash my hair and then immediately after getting out of the shower (when my hair is still dripping wet) I get right into applying the gel to my hair in the way that works for me and once I've done that I let it dry and boom I have all these lovely curls. I do literally nothing else except popping a bonnet on my head at night and then I wait until the morning to shake my hair out because I find that if I wait until then to break the cast on my hair (that hard outer coating that lots of gels give) then I will end up with less frizz. Obviously it'll probably work best if I did all this on the day that I intend to go out but I am too lazy to be waking up all that extra time earlier in the morning just to do my hair. I prefer doing it the day before so that if I do sleep in then I don't have to worry about my hair not being done. All I have to do is shake it out, front and back, side to side, a bit, apply a little oil (I use peppermint) and I'm good to go. Easiest hair routine ever (for me) and I highly recommend. You really need to have some natural curl though to see great results though. My Mum is probably type 1-2 and it didn't really do much of anything to her (I want to try again and use tools like curlers to see how the gel performs that way) but I have type 4 hair and my hair which I thought was just wavy and frizzy produced these BOMB curls after applying this. I didn't even know my hair had that potential! (Sorry, that was a long comment that no one asked for and probably no one will read, but I felt the need to share what I learned because I am obsessed with oat and flax gel now and I wish I had known about this back when I was still in school. xD)

But I'm told if it doesn't curl at the roots, it isn't curly no matter how much it coils and curls or how consistently. Naturally forming chalk size curls and pencil sized curls are considered waves if it only curls to the root in the front and gets weighed down in the back.

The shampoo I definitely don’t think is basic, considering I have super curly hair and I didn’t even need conditioner afterwards. Although I did try the SOS conditioner and it was terrible, the scent was also terrible burned my nose. I currently just use the outta my hair shampoo, and curly cream which are both silicone free.

TIPS TO MAKE IT PERFECT! READ BELOW: I have hair like hers and this is what I always do! I FIRST LET IT AIR DRY ABT 60-80% CUZ OTHERWISE IT NEVER DRIES IN THE TWISTS. also, instead of braiding the bottom, I twist it, and then the claw clip both of them up to get looser curls. also, the KEY is to apply a light serum before, and then some sort of shine like again oil after the process.
